Are you being relocated to another city or state by your own or your spouse's company? Luckily, there are some helpful (hopefully) benefits to having your move in the hands of your job. Be prepared for some or all of the following to happen:

1. They pick your buying and selling agent. Next to having a giant packet of forms to sign, one of the first things that will happen is that you or your spouse will get a call from the pre-chosen buying and selling agents. The plus side to this is that it is most likely in the best interest of the company that these agents are experienced and efficient. Many of them are even trained specifically for relocations.

2. The house hunting trip. Soon after you have been notified of your move, your family may be sent on a totally or partially reimbursed trip to find your new home. You will get to meet your buying agent and spend several days making another life-changing decision. Make sure that you keep track of mileage and save your meal receipts.

3. The phone calls. Expect to be bombarded by calls from inspectors, photographers, appraisers and various personnel from the relocation department. Although these phone calls will seem to come at the most inopportune times, you will be thankful that you did not have to arrange all these details on your own.

4. Money. Along with travel and expense reimbursements from your house hunting trip, the company may assist you in the purchase of your new home depending on the value of your old one, or on a variety of other calculations. This can be one of the more confusing parts. Make sure that you, your mortgage company and your relocation department all have the same information so you don't end up with something you can't afford.

5. The moving. One of the greatest benefits to getting moved corporately is that the packing, moving and maybe even the unpacking, will be completely contracted to professionals so that you don't have to worry about the most exhausting aspect of relocation - all the stuff!
